Mondsee is a small town located on the Mondsee (Moon Lake). First, we stopped for lunch at the restaurant Sala. Afterwards we visited the primary attraction there, the Stiftskirche, which is the church where the wedding scene from The Sound of Music was filmed. Admittedly it is up in the air as to whether or not the whole church was used in the scene, but regardless of that the altar was definitely present in the movie. After checking out the church, Mary and I (we tend to travel together a lot) walked down to the lake and took some pictures. The lake view from Mondsee has a very scenic mountain backdrop, unfortunately it was hazy the day that we were there so my pictures aren't as clear as I wish they were.
Me at lunch holding up a delicious piece of Apfel Strudel.
Mary with her Apfel Strudel.
The Stiftskirche.
The altar used in The Sound of Music.
A statue of Mary in the Stiftskirche.
A photo in Mondsee's downtown area.
A view on the path to the lake.
The Mondsee itself with some very faint mountains in the background.
We saw a pair of swans on the lake, but I only really managed to get one of them fully in a decent picture. The other is partially in the bottom left corner.
Well, that is all for now, because it appears as though the internet is about to be turned off for the evening. I am planning on traveling again this weekend, but it is a little up in the air as to where I may be going. It sounds like Innsbruck and Seefeld to check out at least one Eucharistic miracle site, but there is no promise of that yet. I will be sure to post an update with my plans before I leave.
you sure do look happy about that strudel! Mom
ReplyDeleteApfel strudel ist köstlich! I think that we'll be going out for German food this weekend. Auf Wiedersehen!
